Tuesday
The Cardinals were very creative in art class with Johanna. Today we worked on cutting with scissors and using our imagination. Johanna gave out many different images on one sheet of paper. Friends all took a close look to see what they noticed and which pictures they identified with. Johanna then explained, we were going to create our very own individual collage story. Friends used glue and added drawings to go along with their cut out pictures. At the end of class the Cardinals got a chance, if they wanted, to show and talk about their work. Ask your Cardinal what story they created in art class?
Here is what friends said their collage stories were about:
Ekin - A story about railway trans.
James M. - A sheep and a duck playing with each other, a little red river and the night sky.
Ada - All the things for my birthday, it's a story.
Grant - All the things I like.
Julian - I make a race track story.
Shanaya - I did a story of the rings.
Jackson - It's about my lamb stuffie.
James V. - My neighbor who had a tennis court and I went for a ride on it.
Addy - The goose was eating the fish.
Lydia - A story about the dog.
Willow - I riding my scooter and Ren riding her bike.

Cooper - I'm at the beach and I driving a car with my family.
Outdoor exploration!
Wednesday
Friends worked one on one with a teacher as they worked on counting numbers, number recognition, writing numbers, and doing simple addiction and subtraction equations. While friends waited to work with a teacher they explored with number puzzles, geo boards, counting with dinosaurs, Magna-tiles, pattern and sequencing.
Today, the Cardinals had meeting for worship in our classroom. We used wooden blocks to help guide us through our silences. Friends two at a time went to the block area and got two wooden blocks each and placed them anywhere they chose on a large piece of green paper. Before we began we reminded the class of two important rules to follow, "You can not move anyone's blocks and we need to do our activity in silence." After our silences, the Cardinals were asked, "What do you think of our creation?" Here what friends had to say:
Jackson - Mind-craft world
Shanaya - House
Willow - Castle of play
Julian - Farm
Ekin - Cat city
Addy - Castle
James V. - Tornado in a village
Grant - City
Ada - Movie theater
Ellery - Building
Lydia - Jenkintown
Cooper - City
Olivia - House
Surai - School
Zoey - Bridge
James M. New York City

Keisha then introduced two games: "Match your feet to the beat" where the Cardinals got to match their steps and jumps to the beat of Keisha's drum. The next one was, "Jack in the box" The Cardinals got down on their knees with their heads down to hide in their box. Keisha recited a poem and the Cardinals got to pop out of their boxes. After so much fun and excitement the goodbye song was sung and we thanked Keisha for an amazing class.
The Cardinals working on creating their very own individual snow person/animal. We mixed shaving cream and glue to make snow, cut out hats and noses. Friends also used buttons, pipe cleaners and markers to finish their work.
Thursday
Friends continued their work of working one on one with teachers. They worked on counting numbers, recognition numbers, writing numbers, and doing simple addiction and subtraction equations.
After our morning meeting and snack time, the Cardinals engaged in a Team Building activity. The teachers put 3 pieces of red, blue, purple and orange paper, plus 2 green and 2 yellow pieces of paper in a bin. We asked each Cardinal to pick a color without looking in the bin and to hold it behind their backs until all friends had a paper. Friends then showed their paper, paired up by paper color and worked in groups of 3 or 2 to create one masterpiece.
Friday
Today we worked on math in small groups. Erica our lower school learning specialist join us. Friends worked by rotating through 3 stations such as making patterns, counting, tracing numbers and continuing to work one on one with a teacher.
The Cardinals returned their library books and listened to Michelle as she read to us. Followed by each friend picking and checking out a book to bring back to our classroom.
The Cardinals enjoyed taking part in our Friday- Game Play Day! Today, we had our Game Play Day downstairs in the extended day space. The Cardinals cheered, (Yay....) when we told them about it! We played two rounds of musical chairs, red light green light, what is the time mister fox, and duck duck goose! Ask your Cardinal which game they liked best?
Have a nice weekend!!
