The Cardinals worked on different skills with hula hoops in gym class. We began by spreading out and sitting in our hula hoops. Josh started the music and we danced around until the music stopped. Once the music stopped, we had to quickly find a hula hoop to sit in. Friends also did things such as rolling the hula hoop and trying to catch it, jumping through it, putting the hula hoop above their heads and dropping it over their bodies. The hula hoops proved to be so much fun as the Cardinals laughed, ran and enjoyed themselves the whole time!

Tuesday

The Cardinals were very creative in art class with Johanna. Today we worked with aluminum foil, different stencils, and wooden shapes. Johanna asked the Cardinals,"Do you know what the aluminum is made of?" Friends ideas were trash, foil, and paper. We learned it's made of metal. Then Johanna showed us the different ways to make creations on the foil, such as using a tray, placing shapes under the foil, and using different shapes as stencils. After the Cardinals were finished, Johanna asked, "What did you create?" Some of the responses were, "It's like a house. You could make a big thing and turn it to a small thing. I make a bracelet for me and Zoey. I made a banana. I make a taco truck. I make a rainbow then I turn it into a boat and then a bracelet. First, mine was a planet then I make a ring".  Ask your Cardinal what they used for their creation?

Back in the classroom, we celebrated Shanaya's 5th birthday! Shanaya brought in cupcakes to share with her friends. Shanaya's brother Sebastian who is in 3rd grade came to celebrate as well! Thank you, Shanaya, for sharing your special day with us!!

Wednesday

This morning we worked on our February self-portraits.

This week Jackson led us into the music room as the music began.  Friends dance and listen as they warmed up to the song, I'm a Gummy Bear by Gummibar while waving their scarves around. Next our special friends greeted us with their special voices. Peter Rabbit had a speaking voice, while Betty Butterfly had a whisper voice, followed by Brucey the bear with a shouting voice and Whooty the owl had a singing voice. The Cardinals then sang our hello song "Jambo". Followed by the "Around the Haystack" Chant.  Afterwards, we  reviewed the "7 jumps game". The Cardinals sang the goodbye song and thanked Keisha for the fun time we had!

After snack, we read books about lions, cats and horses. Friends began to work with teachers one on one to find and choose pictures of their chosen animal. We print each picture that was chosen by friends. Our next step is to cut out these pictures before beginning to create our animal habitats. Stay Tuned!

Thursday

Alicia finished the book Julian Is A Mermaid and we watched a slide show of a mermaid parade in New York. Today it was Olivia's turn to squeeze la vaca!

We read books about penguins, giraffes and cows. Friends then continued working on finding and choosing pictures of their animals.

The Cardinals also spend time outside enjoying the warmer weather.

We are starting to notice some change in our experiment of avocados seeds. Some are starting to crack!

Friday

Conference day, we are looking forward to sitting down and talking with you about our amazing Cardinals!!

                                Enjoy your weekend!
