Monday
Weekend News
Julian - We eat pancakes and then we went to the arboretum. I go to Pearl's house and we play there and eat. I take bath and got my splinter out. We went to bed and read stories and that's it.
Lydia - I play with my stuffies and then I go to Nona and grandpa. I play baby and pretend that my stuffy is a baby.
Grant - I had Dunkin Donuts. I sleep my room. I ride my bicycle outside and play with Kennedy. We play bubbles outside.
James M. - I did my race like last week and I came in fourth place. One of my aunts and uncle was there and my grandparents were there too. I also went to a restaurant after my race.
Olivia - I play inside and outside with mommy. I got new piano. I am a musician. Mommy did yard work. I had lunch and my mommy and daddy. Me and my mommy made dinner. We put cookies in oven.
Ekin - I ride my bike with dad on Saturday and on Sunday I ride my bike with Mom. I go to the Library to get some books for my cat study homework.
Ada - I went on a hike with my daddy and I saw a fox, a real fox. I am studying a fox and it was cool. I went to a pizza place. I play outside with my chalk.
Surai - I went the show and they were tap dancing. Four ladies were tap dancing. They were jamming and that's it.
Addy - I go Disney World. I went on the roller coaster. I went on slinky dog ride.
Jackson - I had a picnic at my house yesterday. I went to the store and got some outside toys.
Ellery - I play outside and read books. My swing set is here but daddy didn't build it yet.
Shanaya - I wasn't at home this weekend cause I was on vacation. I went in the pool. Then I got out and went back to the hotel room. I went to the playground. We stay at the playground for a long time and then went home.
Cooper - I fell outside. My dad took us to Target. I got a transformer dinosaur from Target that's from Jurassic Parks. My sister got a puppy from Target.
James V. - I finish my job for videos. I play inside.
Zoey - I go aunty Nesha house. I eat french fries and watch tv. I go store and get lunch. I go to sleep night time.
Willow - I go to my cousin's house and play. We didn't have any time to play at home cause we stay at their house for a long time.
Our six grade friends came to visit from middle school and brought along with them two baby chicks. The Cardinals were very excited to gently touch the chicks. We made sure to wash our hands very well afterwards. Our big friends also read to us, played and drew with us!
Gym class with Josh was fun as always. The Cardinals screamed as they ran into the gym! Today the task was focusing, balancing and coordination as the Cardinals maneuver through an obstacle course. Nice work Cardinals!
Tuesday
The Cardinals walked into the art class wearing smocks. Johanna told the Cardinals they were going to be working with clay in two parts. First, friends rolled a big piece of clay out flat to make a tile, then another piece of clay to create an animal of choice with cookie cutters. The Cardinals then glued their animals to their clay tile and finished up by using glue and gems to decorate their masterpieces! Ask your Cardinal, What did you create in art class today?
Friends continued to work on the outside of their animal habitats.
Wednesday
Early this morning we met our second grade buddies at their classroom door. We then walked down to the music room and gathered for our meeting for worship time. We sat in silence followed by a teacher reading the book Somewhere Today, A Book of Peace. After the book, friends were asked to think about something they could do to bring peace to someone. We settled back into silence, and then a few Cardinals stood up and shared their thoughts such as, "I was thinking about making stuff for people with nature cause next week is a special thing for the Earth". Another Cardinal said, "I want to give pictures cause I like to draw." Yet another Cardinal said, "I feel like peace when I snuggle with my mom and dad cause it feel so warm." After our time together our second grade buddies walk us back to our classroom.
Olivia led us into music class, friends picked scarves or shakers eggs as we warmed up to bamboleo by Gipsy King. Followed by singing and doing the movements to Peace Like A River and Rowing Down the River. Keisha then introduced the Cardinals to a new version of Head and Shoulders with lots of movements and singing.
After snack time the Cardinals headed outside on a nature walk looking for signs of Spring. We asked the Cardinals to take a look around and share what they noticed. Here is what friends had to say:
Jackson - I see some green leaves and that's a sign of Spring. Rocks are a sign of nature.
Olivia - I see pink leaves. I see sticks.
James V. - I see nature stuff all around. I see a pink tree.
Lydia - I see lots and lots of sticks.
James M. - I see purple flowers. I see acorn caps.
Ellery - I see red flowers
Willow - I see plants and I see trees.
Addy - I see Petals on the ground from trees.
Zoey - Acorn, look I see ant. I saw it, it walk. He go in dirt.
Surai - I see trees and flowers.
Shanaya - All I see are cars and a red stop sign and benches and trees. I also see the leaves coming back.
Julian - I see more trees and leaves growing back.
Ekin - I see those red flowers and I see Dandelions. Look, more flowers over there. The flowers are coming out.
Grant - I see little things moving. I see ants crawl fast and stop.
Ada - I see a bug town. I see leaves coming out this sidewalk. I see leaves.
Cooper - I see different stuff like sticks and leaves.
Thursday
Alicia met us at the Spanish classroom door and told us today we are going to learn the names of animals in Spanish. After our morning work, Alicia read us the book, Animals by Eric Carle. Alicia then showed the Cardinals that she made cards with each of their animals on them. We then began to learn how to annunciate our animal's name in Spanish. Today it was Cooper's turn to squeeze la vaca!

The Cardinals were delighted to play with their animal's habitats. We had many of our friend's animals with only four that we needed to improvise. First the Cardinals explored with habitats from different regions and then with habitats in their region. Then it was time for large motor fun on the playground!
Friday
Game Play Day
Friends chose which games we played such as Duck Duck Goose, Simon Says, and Twister today! We played a few rounds of these games!! Ask your Cardinals which game/games they liked best!!
