We started our day by walking over to the meetinghouse for meeting for worship with our second grade partners. This was the first time the Cardinals visited the meetinghouse this year. Friends have been doing an amazing job practicing meeting for worship in our classroom and in the music room. And so today, we joined the entire lower school in the meetinghouse. And of course, the Cardinals did incredible!! Ask your Cardinal how was the meetinghouse?
After walking back with our partners and saying goodbye with lots of hugs. We had morning meeting before heading to music class with Keisha. We warmed up by dancing with scarves to the song All Favor del Vien by Asere on Putumayo Presents Afro-Caribbean Party, before singing our hello song Jambo. We sang and did movements to Here is a Bunny. Today Keisha gave out bells and we learned a new song called Bell Horses. Keisha played a fun game with us that she plays with the older lower school friends. The game was called Mother Sarah. We followed Keisha and began with standing still and using one hand but by the end of the song we used our hands, legs, head and whole bodies to jump, wiggle, hop, skip and run in place before laying on the floor as Mother Sarah's song and movement came to an end. We sang This little Light of Mine before going back to our classroom! Ask your Cardinal what they like about music class this week?
Back in our classroom we ate snack followed by making our special banana bread! Our Cardinals from last year as well as our new Cardinals were very eager to participate in the process of making the bread! We were divided into two groups and together we made 5 loaves of banana bread! Friends helped measured ingredients, peeled and mashed bananas, grease pans, mixed and stirred the batter then into the oven it went! And out came our delicious looking and smelling banana bread! Many Cardinals had 2-3 servings! We also shared our banana bread with our resource teachers, Andrea, Tricia and Paula. Ask your Cardinal what they did to help make our banana bread? and "How did it taste?"
Thursday
After our greetings and calendar work in Spanish class, Alicia went over the colors and body parts and the Cardinals said the Spanish word that connects. Friends then played Canima but this time Alicia called out a body part and a color together. The Cardinals touched the body part while pointing to the color that was called. Great job Cardinals!! Today it was James V's. turn to squeed la vaca!
We had snack and then continued a class discussion of "What do you want to learn more about?" We asked the Cardinals this question a couple of weeks ago. Here's what friends had to say today:

Friday
Today Erica, our lower school learning specialist, came to work with us. She will be working with the Cardinals in small groups in and out of the classroom. Today, Erica brought four literacy activities for us to explore. One was a teacher reading a book and friends identifying the words that rhymed. Another was playing a rhyming matching game. The third one was identifying uppercase letters. And the last one was making a rhyming book. Friends worked in groups and rotated through these activities.
We also had library class with Michelle and Ashanti. Today we listened to the book Mud Puddle by Robert Munsch before picking and checking out our own individual books to bring back to our classroom!
Have a peaceful Weekend!!
